Here are some of my favourite websites and resources:

  • Speech Pathology Australia: resources and information for the public regarding speech pathology including ‘communication milestones’ for children and fact sheets on a number of important topics including literacy, voice and bilingualism (learning two or more languages).

  • Tools for clear speech: Professional support and resources including ‘Tools to Go’ for practicing consonant and vowel sounds, intonation and rhythm.

  • PBS Kids: Educational games and resources for learning various language skills and helpful for reinforcing speech sounds.

  • Specific Learning Difficulties Association of South Australia (SPELD): Providing resources and advice to children and adults with specific learning difficulties.

  • Language Playroom: A website containing therapy materials for school-aged children - an ‘online library’ of tools and activities of speech and language activities including articulation (speech), language, social skills and fluency. 

  • AssistiveWare: A free website that discusses AAC implementation strategies and provides ideas for activities involving AAC. They also provide free downloadable visual supports and simple information about AAC and activity ideas. 

  • Tar Heel Reader: A collection of free, easy-to-read, accessible books on a wide range of topics as well as games. Each of their books can be speech enabled and accessed using multiple interfaces, including touch screens and switches for AAC user accessibility.

  • Social Thinking: Developed by Speech Pathologist Michelle Garcia Winner, the Social Thinking website provides a library of both free and paid resources that use the ‘Social Thinking Methodology’ to support individuals develop social awareness and social functioning skills through social-emotional learning programs suitable for all ages.

  • Twinkl Australia: quality teaching and learning resources.

  • The AAC Coach: A website, Instagram and Facebook account that shares professional and easy-to-read information about Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
